We’ve been off line for a bit!

So, As we headed around the country, we had limited access to the Interweb, and laptop and mobile phones were all full. Couldn’t access the cloud to save pics and stuff so, just couldn’t post! We have sorted out the technology and will update the site with pictures from the trip.   Read More

The places we stay

We have stayed at some cool places in the last few weeks: Princetown along the great ocean road, Broken Creek near Benalla on a farmers property (and Emily had a drive of the car), through Gundagai, lake Wallace near Lithgow, into Bathurst and a lap around Mount Panorama, and then Bowling Alley reserve on Lake Chaffey Read More

The Great Ocean Road

After driving from Portland we went along the Great Ocean Road and stopped at the bay of islands, 12 apostles and London bridge. Also managed to stop for a couple of older Swiss folk with a flat tire and a bad set of tools and no knowledge of how to change tyres! Great views! Read More

Narrung Ferry landing

After leaving Adelaide we travelled towards Narrung. When you take the direct route, there is a 24hr ferry that takes you across Lake Alexandrina. It’s cable operated and operates on demand. Very old school given the distance is probably 150 metres! We stayed at a free camp site just near the ferry landing, on the Read More

Dual battery system added

I’ve been a bit worried about drawing down the started battery using the Engel fridge constantly. The standard FJ Cruiser battery is about 75 Amp hours, which means at a draw of about 2.5A, the fridge will kill the battery completely in 30 hours or render it unable to start the car in about 15 Read More

A beach of shells

On the way to Shark Bay there is a beach and it doesn’t have sand. The entire thing is covered in shells. It’s pretty cool. Read More

The whole beach to ourselves

We took a pretty rough dirt road from just out of Carnarvon to Quabba station. From there we took an even rougher road another 60km to Reb Bluff. When we got there, there was no one else around. So we had the pick of the spots! We set up and spent two nights there. The Read More
